5 Foundations of a High-Converting Landing Page

The internet wouldn’t exist without good page layouts. This is especially true when it comes to landing pages. How good a landing page theme you choose can make or break your online business model.

Most businesses and marketers understand how relevant the landing page is. There are still landing pages I stumble upon that look like stock themes with only different text. Nowadays, you can get free themes easily on a CMS like WordPress or Joomla.

The problem, however, is that there will be tens of thousands of other people using the same theme.

If you don’t uniquely customize the themes you use, your landing page will fail!

Your conversion rate will suffer, which directly translates into bad business.

Pro Tip: Using Instapage allows bloggers to easily create landing pages on their blog, with minimal effort

What to keep in mind when building a high-converting landing page

Before you start a blog, it’s essential to keep page design in mind.

Before using a landing page theme for your business or personal interest, it’s important to understand what makes landing pages function in general. Once you understand the “anatomy,” so to speak, of landing pages, you can then proceed onto making each part great.

The components of a landing page can be classified as the:

  • headline
  • subheading
  • call-to-action button
  • introduction text
  • the list of benefits and features
  • conclusion.

You may already be aware of the above components. You shouldn’t choose themes that do not include all of the above-listed components, no matter how glossy they look. Simply having a headline or several paragraphs of SEO-friendly text in the body does not make a good landing page, needless to say.

Now, let’s look at the critical factors that will help you choose a conversion-friendly landing page theme:

1. Prominent and Attention-Grabbing Title and Subheading

You need to show visitors right away on your landing page what makes your product or service unique and different from similar things offered by competitors. The theme you choose should have a layout that communicates this message to the visitor right away.

Marketers refer to this as the “unique selling proposition” or USP.

The USP should be described with the headline and the subheading of the landing page. The headline should be the SEO-friendly name of your business or organization. The subheading is where you can send your USP through. It should be written in a manner to hook the reader.

For example, consider Uber’s “Get there: Your day belongs to you” hook.

Takeaway:

The headline and subheadings on your landing page must emphasize your USP.

Don’t pick a theme that uses boring fonts or hard to read fonts for these two landing page components. Choose the theme that will best allow you to get your USP through to potential customers.

2. Allows Eye-Catching Visuals

The visuals on your landing page are just as important as the textual USP to retain traffic, sometimes even more so.

Landing pages with gorgeous images have lower bounce rates than the pages without.

You may have noticed the giant images on popular landing pages of companies like Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, IKEA and Coca Cola.

These masters of advertising understand the importance of visuals in communicating the sales pitch to the user.

Takeaway:

Think of the images on your landing page as a visual USP.

The theme you choose must have a picture slider or a similar element that allows you to post pictures or videos. The theme should not be cluttered with placeholder images. Rather, it should have a big space above the fold for you to post breathtaking photos.

Suggested reading: How to create your blog’s visual marketing strategy

3. List Benefits and Advantages of Your Offer

You can write long paragraphs about the many benefits your company offers. But no one will read that.

A good landing page has components for bullet point lists of benefits and advantages a business has to offer. This summary of advantages usually follows a small introductory paragraph that follows up on the USP expressed in the subheading.

When you choose a landing page theme, look for this part especially. Some landing pages only have placeholders for simple text lists. Others allow lists to accompany the small images.

Takeaway:

Make your landing page easier to read by using bullet points.

The theme should offer detailed list creation. Meaning, you should be able to write two or three words about an advantage, which will be immediately attention grabbing, and then write two or three short sentences below describing the advantages.

Suggested reading: The 5-step process to writing viral blog posts

4. Showcase Customer Testimonials

Businesses must first build trust with potential customers before any conversions happen.

Online businesses build this trust by posting customer testimonials and reviews.

Let’s face it — you need testimonials to gain the trust of your audience.

These are unbiased words of your customers about your products and services. Your visitors will gravitate from testimonials because it comes from their point of view as potential customers.

The testimonials will help them decide whether or not to buy or subscribe for you, if not click your CTA button (more on this later).

To maximize the conversion of your landing page, you need to gather as many reviews that give you a thumbs up as possible.

If you have no testimonial to show for or have terrible reviews from your customers, then bye-bye visitor!

Takeaway:

Your theme should allow you to post and easily update customer testimonials.

Essentially, the users of your landing page must be able to see customer testimonials as they scroll down to the bottom. Some pages show customer testimonials above the fold or on a sidebar alongside the introductory text and benefits list. That’s not bad either. What’s important is that there should be placeholders somewhere in the middle of the page for you to showcase your company’s social proof.

While some themes may not have a default section for testimonials, you can use plugins that allow you to manually set up and embed customer reviews within your content.

If you are having problems getting positive reviews from customers, you should consider using tools like Yotpo and MyRealKarma to gain the trust of visitors and increase your conversion.

5. Make Your CTA Pop Out

As mentioned, the purpose of your landing page is to increase conversion.

All the factors mentioned above are geared to convert your visitors into buyers or subscribers.

However, your traffic is all for naught if you cannot persuade them to convert to your chosen landing page.

This is the reason why you need to make the best call-to-action (CTA) button as possible for your landing page.

The CTA button is a standalone component surrounded by white space to make it stand out from everything else on your landing page.

The idea is to compel a visitor to take action on your landing page that directly leads to a sale. It will be up to you to write the CTA button copy. However, your landing page must have the CTA button design done perfectly to make it easily clickable without a hassle.

Takeaway:

The theme you choose must have a highly conspicuous and can’t-miss CTA button.

Your CTA button relies on having a compelling design and optimized placement to make it visible for your visitors.

Having a CTA button that your visitor cannot ignore will increase your chances of conversion!

Conclusion

Building a website from scratch writing code by hand is tough. Therefore, your hope for generating leads with a great landing page relies immensely on the theme you choose. You need to pick a theme wisely based on the relevant factors explained above.

You should not have any trouble designing a good landing page by selecting a theme that allows you to demonstrate your USP with the heading and subheading. Then, the theme should have space for attention-grabbing visuals and a list of benefits.

The theme must have space for you to post customer testimonials that garner social proof. Last but not least, the theme must have a cleverly designed CTA button to drive conversions.

iTrust Capital icon

iTrustCapital is a beginner-friendly platform for crypto IRA trading that’s more affordable than other companies. You can buy and trade both popular cryptocurrencies and physical assets like gold there.

Pros & Cons

Are you in a rush? Take away these key points from our iTrustCapital review.

  • Straightforward, easy-to-use platform.
  • Trades settle within 5 minutes.
  • Services operate 24/7.
  • Offers live chat and phone support.
  • Beginner-friendly on-boarding process.
  • Comparatively affordable services.
  • No well-developed mobile app.
  • Only supports six cryptocurrencies.

To put the pros into context, you should know how much other platforms charge for your first investment. For example, Regal Assets requires you to put in a $25,000 initial investment. BitIRA is another great company, but your minimum investment would be $5,000 with them.

Finally, although Bitcoin IRA is popular, they don’t directly list their current fees on their sites. So, we can say iTrustCapital gives both more transparency and less risk for someone just starting in crypto IRA trading.

On the other hand, the biggest con on this list is its limited capabilities. The company is still fairly new, so it doesn’t have the development level others do.

Plus, it could afford to have more diversity by trading metals like platinum, copper or palladium.

Are you unsure what the safest crypto trading platform for you is? Or, maybe you’re tired of high transaction rates and want something more affordable.

If these sound like you, keep reading this iTrustCapital review. Its features might make it the right trade platform for you.

Who is iTrustCapital?

iTrust Capital Reviews

iTrustCapital is a self-directed digital and crypto IRA trading platform. On the dashboard, you can both buy and trade cryptocurrency with real-time conversion rate updates.

The organization launched in 2019, so it’s still very green. But since then, it quickly gained a reputation for offering its service at low fees and minimum requirements.

iTrustCapital Services

iTrustCapital lets you trade in several of the most popular and valuable cryptocurrencies available. However, it only supports sic of them. iTrustCapital plans to include Polkadot (DOT) and Stellar (XLM) coming soon, though.

Here is a list of currencies the platform currently accepts:

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
  • Ripple (XRP)
  • EOS (EOS)

Also, iTrustCapital lets you hold two physical assets:

Like any financial investment, you want to know that you’ve stored your assets in a secure location. Thankfully, iTrustCapital is fairly transparent with its process.

For example, iTrustCapital stores your cryptocurrency with Curv, a leading institutional wallet provider.

For insurance, it works with Munich Re. Munich Re has been a leading global provider of reinsurance since 1880. Together, this partnership covers up to $50 million worth of insurance.

iTrustCapital uses Authy for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). A 2FA will put more security on your account than only a password, and inform you if someone from a strange device is trying to log in.

Finally, you’re probably wondering where they would store your gold and silver. The answer is with Royal Canadian Mint, the organization responsible for produces Canada’s circulation coins.

Fees & Minimum Investment

iTrustCapital boasts more affordable rates than other platforms to join. If you sign up with them, you can expect the following fees:

  • $2,500 minimum to open your new trust account.
  • $1,000 additional contribution after opening.
  • A $29.95 monthly service fee.
  • A 1% fee per cryptocurrency transaction.
  • Physical Gold charge of $50 over spot per ounce.
  • Physical Silver charge at $2.50 over spot per ounce.

The monthly service fee covers key aspects like the cost of setting up a new IRA. It also pays for IRS/tax reporting support and unlimited storage with institutional custody partners.

Although you have that $2,500 minimum to open a trust with them, there is no maximum on how much you can put into your iTrustCapital account. That makes it a great starting place that you could still use for long-term goals.

FAQ’s

Any company comes with caveats. Here, we addressed some of the most popular concerns so you can feel confident on whether to make a iTrustCapital account.

Yes. Publications like Forbes, Business Insider, and Entrepreneur have all recommended it as an option for crypto IRA trading.

You can read more reviews of it in our 3rd Party Rating section.

Where is my Bitcoin or Crypto Stored?

iTrustCapital uses Curv to store digital assets. Curv also uses MPC Cold Storage Practices instead of Standard Cold Storage. While Standard storage requires you to sign off a transaction with multiple keys, MPC storage distributes those keys, so multiple parties sign off.

If you want to understand the difference in more detail, you can read about it in this article.

Why Invest in Bitcoin in my IRA?

Although some call Bitcoin a volatile currency, it has an overall upward trend. People take it more seriously, and government institutions are starting to authorize banks to protect it. So, we can predict it’ll likely become more valuable.

Storing your bitcoin in an IRA also helps reduce your taxes versus holding it in other ways. Some IRA forms will even keep your bitcoin storage tax-free.

Do I Need to Set Up an LLC?

You don’t need to set up an LLC to have a crypto IRA saving. However, we recommend you consider it to widen your tax options and give your assets more protection.

Does Opening a Bitcoin IRA Require Lots of Complicated Paperwork?

On iTrustCapital, it doesn’t. If you find any of the directions tricky, you can schedule a call with them for assistance.

iTrustCapital Reviews & 3rd Party Ratings

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) currently has no ratings for iTrustCapital. However, the Business Consumer Alliance (BCA) gave it an AAA rating. That rating is their highest measure for company reliability and means there’s no reason to doubt its legitimacy.

On TrustLink, the young company only has one review so far. It’s a 2-star review, which the user gave because of how long it took some funds to arrive into their account.

The highest ratings for an iTrustCapital review come from Trustpilot. 75% of users gave it an excellent 5-Star rating, putting its overall score at 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The happy users applauded it for excellent customer service, user-friendliness, and fair prices. In contrast, those who gave criticism noted that Trustpilot does not support more advanced trading needs.

One example of this criticism is highlighting that the platform does not support Flare Airdrop. Airdrop is a promotional technique where companies with new forms of cryptocurrency send users small amounts of it for free.

If you just want to invest in diversifying your IRA assets, you probably don’t need to worry about this. But if you’re doing any business with ICOs or cryptocurrency analysis, you might find it limiting.

How to Open an Account

Opening an account with iTrustCapital is easy. You’ll follow these general steps:

  1. Select ‘Create a New Account’ and fill in your information. You don’t have to input your payment information at this stage yet.
  2. Verify your account through your email, and then visit your dashboard.
  3. From your dashboard, look for First Time Account Setup. Click this button, and have an unexpired government ID with you to fill in the first form.
  4. Input what type of IRA you want to do. Your options are Traditional, Roth, or SEP IRA.
  5. Then, input how you will fund the account: Transfer, Rollover, or Cash Contribution.
  6. Input your Beneficiary information.
  7. Input your debit or credit card for monthly service fees.
  8. Submit your application.

You may have to wait a few days for the site to verify your application. Then, you’ll get an email to DocuSign it.

After that, iTrustCapital will give you specific instruments to apply your first investment based on your funding type.

Who is iTrust Capital Best For?

If you want to start trading cryptocurrency and don’t want to put a high initial fund down, you’ll like iTrustCapital. It keeps everything from explanations to its interface simple, to the point, and uncomplicated.

If you want to invest in new cryptocurrencies, use Airdrop, or store large sums of money, you might benefit from another platform like Regal Assets.

Beginners who feel lost can benefit from iTrustCapitals’ knowledge center. They answer common questions like how cryptocurrency is taxed there. So, although you don’t get a consultant, you get a helping hand there.

Keep in mind that you can only buy crypto for your IRA here by using USD. The only way to transfer external crypto holdings to your new IRA is if it’s already part of an existing one.

Final Verdict

iTrustCapital is a safe, fast, and affordable platform for crypto IRA trading. It removes complicated paperwork and simplifies the process of signing up.

We hope this iTrustCapital review gave you information to make a decision. To create your account, access their home page today. Or send them a message to learn more about their services directly.

19 First Blog Post Ideas And Examples For 2021

Getting started is one of the hardest parts of blogging. The good news? For better or worse, your first blog post doesn’t matter much.

One of my favorite things about blogging is coming up with ideas using keyword and topic research.

That’s why I’ve covered travel blog post ideas, and how to find a bunch of keywords and ideas in just a few minutes.

But if you’re not used to doing topic research, finding your very first idea can be overwhelming.

Fortunately, your first post doesn’t have to be hard.

Here are a few things to know about writing your first blog post, and why it’s not worth getting hung up on what goes out first.

The most important takeaway?

Any first post is better than none.

What should my first blog post be?

There are two common approaches you can take with your first blog post. This is one of the most critical things you’ll come to learn when figuring out how to start a blog.

The first is to use your first post as an introduction to your blog and what you’re setting out to do.

The second is to jump right into your content as if you’ve been doing it for years.

There are pros and cons to each one, but my favorite is the second option because it gives you a better chance of writing something that will potentially get traffic over time, rather than something that gets buried on your site, never to be seen again.

For example, if you’re starting a food blog, and your first blog post is an “about me” style introduction to your blog and why you’re getting started, eventually that post will get buried underneath all the recipes you publish.

But if you just get right to the point and make your first blog post a recipe on something like chicken and rice casserole, that post can eventually get traffic for a long time, whether that’s from Google, Pinterest, etc.

Put it this way: your intro post won’t do much for your bottom line, but getting to the actual content can help you create something that can potentially stick around and get traffic and income.

When friends or family ask me what their first blog post should be, I tell them to act like they’ve been there before: save the intro for your about me page and get right down to business.

First blog post ideas

Whether you start with an introduction or get right into the type of content you’ll be creating, below you’ll find a few ideas on what to write to make your first post a success.

Whatever you write about, remember the most important thing is that this is the official start of you committing to blogging.

It matters less what you write about and more that you’re sitting down, writing and publishing a post.

You’re going through the process for the first of (hopefully) many times, and it’s a good feeling to finally get something out there at all.

So don’t get hung up on coming up with the best ideas: focus on getting something up and live.

Your first blog post as an introduction

Although I don’t love this route, using your first post as an intro can be a nice quick win under your belt.

It can be hard to jump right into the meat of your blog content, but posting a 300-word intro to your blog is pretty easy.

So if you’re about getting quick wins and building momentum, it can make sense to go with an intro for your first post.

If you’re going this route, remember the basics: who, what, why, where, how, when.

You can address all these areas and more in your intro post without going overboard.

Who: give a quick intro on who you are, your background, your interests and anyone else that might be relevant to your blog, like family.

What: describe what your blog will be – this is good practice as a blogger, but it also helps build expectations for anyone who sees your first post.

Do you focus on recipes? Videos? How-to tutorials?

Let your readers know what they’re getting into with your blog.

Why: a lot of first blog posts describe the genesis of their blog. Maybe it’s to get their creative ideas out into the world, or maybe it’s to help the blogger organize their own ideas and projects.

Whatever it is, readers often like to see the reasons behind bloggers bein’ bloggers.

Where: you don’t necessarily have to give any specifics here, but if you’re looking to build a community on your blog, it’s nice to let people know where you are.

Are you in the hot and dry Southwest? A busy city? Letting readers know your general location can help set the scene for upcoming content.

How: this is similar to your what, but how are you going to go about blogging? Will you post weekly recipes, or focus on social media and update your blog whenever you have time?

When: if you plan on a blogging schedule, let know readers what it is. Some bloggers like to publish posts on certain days of the week, or have specific types of content, like videos or Q & As, go out at certain times of the month.

This may not be something you’re concerned about, but if you do have a schedule, telling your readers about it can help you stick to your plan.

Pro: writing an intro blog post can be a quick and easy win to say you’ve officially started your blog

Con: in time, your intro post will be completely buried and really won’t get traffic or generate income

Recommendation: I love the idea of introducing yourself, your blog and your intentions, but I think that serves a better purpose on your about me page, where people will visit over time.

Most intro posts get buried and never seen, so I’m not a huge fan on this approach.

Your first blog post as real content

This is my preferred approach for a first blog post because it skips the fluff and gets right down to business.

If you’re creating a food blog, this means starting with a recipe right off the bat.

If you’re in the DIY or home improvement niche, it means doing a tutorial or how-to project as an example of what your blog will cover in time.

I also like this approach because the more you blog, the more you figure out your style, preferences and voice.

If you start with an intro post, it’s not that you’re losing much time or energy, but you’re also not working toward developing your blogging voice.

Start with a real post, though, and it’s the first time you’ll begin to see what you do and don’t like about blogging, and you’ll start to notice things you want to do different in the future.

Creating an About Me Page

If you go this route, I think it’s smart to still build about your “about me” page with info about you, your background, vision for the blog and what readers can expect from you.

All that information is super helpful and necessary, especially if you want to build trust and loyalty among your readers.

But an about me page is a much more prominent place to do that instead of your first blog post.

Pro: writing “real” content will help you get to the good stuff faster – this is how you get traffic, readers, income and momentum.

Con: writing a full blog post can be difficult, especially if you’ve never done it before.

Recommendation: start by writing real content, but tackle an easy topic or subject first, instead of attempting a massive blog post on your first try.

How to write your first blog post

There’s no “right way” to write your first blog post other than to get your thoughts down.

If you’re going with an intro-style post, it’s good to include:

  • your background, interests and expertise, if any
  • what you hope to accomplish with your blog
  • contact information or social media links
  • a call to action to email, comment or follow you elsewhere

As you’ll see from the blog post examples below, there’s not much else to it!

You can dive into your story as much as you’d like, but as I recommended, it’s also good practice to present that information on your about me page.

If you dig right into your content, how you write your posts depends a lot on your niche, style and topics.

Again, there’s no right way to write these first posts, but if it feels like you’re having a hard time getting your ideas down, it can help to create an outline first, or make a bullet list of things you want to cover.

It may take some time to find your blogging style and voice, so don’t be afraid to make this first post “rough.”

You can always go back later and edit it once you’ve refined your blogging process, but the important thing is you get it done rather than waiting a long time to get it “perfect.”

19 first blog post examples

1. The Friendly Teacher

Hannah at The Friendly Teacher does a great job with her first blog post.

It’s an intro that goes over:

  • the purpose of her blog
  • her background and interests
  • her approach to teaching reading

She also announce a giveaway on the page, which is a nice way to kick things off.

Overall, the page is an intro, so it won’t get much traffic over time, but it does do a great job of introducing Hannah, her personality and what she hopes to accomplish with her blog.

2. Gimme Some Oven

I came across Gimme Some Oven when researching mom blog name ideas. Ali keeps it short and sweet on her first post, and this is how it goes for many first blog posts.

3. Fun Cheap or Free

My wife and I follow a lot of Jordan Page’s advice and content at Fun Cheap or Free.

Her first post is straightforward and mentions her goal of highlighting creative ways to save money. I also like that she includes contact information for readers who do come across the post.

4. Young House Love

The first post at Young House Love offers a quick glimpse into what’s to come from bloggers John and Sherry.

It’s quick and to the point, and acts more of a preview than a full introduction to the couple and their blog.

5. Happy Hooligans

The Happy Hooligans’ first post is a great one: it introduces the blog, the goal and also has some nice calls to action to comment, email Jackie or follow them on Facebook.

I also like that the intro posts includes internal links to other blog posts – if you’re going to create an intro post, it will be the most “aged” post on your site, so it’s a great idea to link this page to more content-heavy ones.

6. Michael Hyatt

This post is an interesting example because Michael set up this site as a way to “communicate with our employees on some sort of regular basis.”

He does a great job of laying out why the blog could be effective, and explains what he expects to do with the blog.

Overall, this is a great intro because it explains the how and why behind the blog and its creation.

7. A Girl’s Guide to Home DIY

Lauren at A Girl’s Guide to Home DIY does a great job with her first blog post, which goes over:

  • her background and interests
  • how she started doing DIY home projects
  • the goal of her blog

This is one of the best intro posts I came across because there’s a clear story line in Lauren’s content.

She also adds it to the top navigation of her blog for good measure, so this intro post probably gets more traffic than your typical one.

8. Sylvie’s Suitcase

Sylvie has a great intro post that reviews her previous blog, Cotton Tales, and why she focused on travel content with her new blog.

She also includes a few photos and a good idea of what readers can expect from her blog.

9. My Debt Epiphany

Chonce at My Debt Epiphany has a great intro post, going into her background and what her blog will cover.

I also like that she includes a nice bold call to action using ConvertKit, so her intro post can capture more leads than the standard first post.

10. IKEA Hackers

Here’s a quick and easy first post that goes over the basics, and tells readers that Jules is not paid by IKEA to do content.

Nothing crazy, but gets the point across.

11. Cherished Bliss

Ashley at Cherished Bliss posted her first post as a way to update people on her Etsy store.

It’s less of a robust intro and more of an update post, which is a great idea if you have an existing platform or audience from social media, email, Etsy, etc. that already has an idea of what your content, services or products are all about.

12. Domestic Imperfection

Ashley at Domestic Imperfection gets right to the point: this blog is “about all things domestic.”

It’s not a long intro, but it does include an example project so readers can get an idea of what to expect from Ashley’s content.

13. Trips with Tykes

Trips with Tykes’ first post from Leslie covers all the basics: her background and why she started her blog.

14. Have Baby Will Travel

It looks like this post is the first of Have Baby Will Travel’s “updated” blog, and Corinne does a good job of including a call to action to email with input.

15. Beneath My Heart

Here’s a solid all-around intro post from Traci that covers a little background, a little story and some pictures – as well as a call to action to join her email newsletter.

16. At Home with Ashley

Ashley uses her first blog post to spell out her blog vision and purpose.

“I believe my calling in life is to create beauty and I want to help you (yes, you!) have a beautiful life,” she writes. “So here I am blogging about the process.”

17. DIY Beautify

Cindy’s first post on DIY Beautify is all about fear and the pull to create cool things. That’s what blogging’s about for a lot of bloggers, but she does a good job of laying it out simply.

19. Citygirlmeetsfarmboy

This one’s short and sweet and explains that Citygirlmeetsfarmboy is all about “how the world is better when people do what they love.”

What will your first blog post be?

The answer: it doesn’t matter. It just matters that you write it.

That you actually sit down and do it.

That you get it out of the way, so you can get to the real work.

Now go on and get nah!

Publishing for non-integrated websites and easy tables

Video content

Blogely has many integrations on the Roadmap. At this moment, we have full integration with WordPress, which has a sizable market share – 85% of all blog posts are residing in WordPress.

There are quite a few CMS platforms that are pending for integration. In the meantime, publishing the article is possible with the use of HTML export.

There is also another reason for this workaround. Not all CMS platforms have API capable (or allowed) to use posting of articles. In such a case, HTML export is the next best solution.

In addition, we discussed the simplicity of inserting data tables (Excel or Google sheet) into articles.

Non-integrated site set up

Publishing for non-integrated sites is a workaround using HTML export. First, the site must be connected in Settings.

Here are the steps to complete this process.

1. Connect your website (non-integrated) in Settings/Integrations

2. In the pop-up specify the domain name you want for publishing.

3. Review connected site

Publishing on non-integrated site

To publish an article on a non-integrated site follow these steps:

1. Inside the article click on the “Publish” button

2. Select the “Other” option

3. Select site and enter details

4. Review and submit.

Easy data tables

Many of us know how tricky it is to insert simple data tables into WordPress. You search for plugins, shortcodes., trying to embed iframes…

We have found and added a simple solution for tables: just copy the excel or Google sheet table and paste it. You just need to paste it in the spacing popup window for embeds.

Here is an example of inserted table:

Segment Country Product Units Sold Manufacturing Price Sale Price
Government Canada Carretera 1618.5 $3.00 $20.00
Government Germany Carretera 1321 $3.00 $20.00
Midmarket France Carretera 2178 $3.00 $15.00
Midmarket Germany Carretera 888 $3.00 $15.00
Midmarket Mexico Carretera 2470 $3.00 $15.00
Government Germany Carretera 1513 $3.00 $350.00
Midmarket Germany Montana 921 $5.00 $15.00
Channel Partners Canada Montana 2518 $5.00 $12.00
Government France Montana 1899 $5.00 $20.00
Channel Partners Germany Montana 1545 $5.00 $12.00
Midmarket Mexico Montana 2470 $5.00 $15.00
Enterprise Canada Montana 2665.5 $5.00 $125.00
Small Business Mexico Montana 958 $5.00 $300.00
Government Germany Montana 2146 $5.00 $7.00

Why You Should Keep Going with Your Blog

Why you should keep going with your blog

Why you should keep going with your blog

This post is based on episode 89 of the ProBlogger podcast.

Last week I talked about ‘starting’, and why it’s the most important thing you’ll ever do as an entrepreneur.

This week I’m going to talk about the second most important thing you’ll ever do as an entrepreneur. And like so many of life’s lessons, there’s a story that captures the idea perfectly.

But this story isn’t mine. It’s actually one I came across while researching a project in high school. But it’s one that really resonated with me, and I hope you’ll find it just as useful.

A tale of two brothers

The year was 1851, and the Cavanagh brothers stood by a bend in a creek that had optimistically been named Golden Point by gold prospectors in days gone by.

The two brothers had been digging in their claim for days, along with around 600 other miners. Numerous miners had already found gold at this particular bend and made good (but not spectacular) money from their finds, which is why so many miners were there.

Most of that gold had been found in the top meter or so of sandy ground, which was relatively easy to get through. But below that was a hard layer of clay, and getting through that was backbreaking work.

The miners were also hearing rumours of richer pickings further up the creek. And so it wasn’t long before the entire area around the brothers’ claim was littered with abandoned holes, all about a meter deep.

But the two brothers stayed. They believed there was still gold to be found, and began the arduous task of digging into the hard clay that had sent everyone else packing.

They moved to an abandoned claim from another miner and began digging. Inch by inch they chipped away at the clay, only to find more of it. They went to bed that night with nothing but sore backs.

The next day they started digging again. Again they chipped away at the layer of clay inch by inch, only to find more of it underneath.

As sunset approached, the brothers finally broke through the last of the clay. The hole was now around two meters deep, and at the bottom they discovered an old creek bed that was centuries old. More importantly, they found pockets of gold that had been washed down from the mountains for hundreds of years.

The brothers worked feverishly through the night until their lamps gave out.

The next day they woke early and assessed their work. In the light of day, the full reality of what they’d uncovered began to sink in. There was gold below that clay—and lots of it.

In that day alone the Cavanagh brothers found 27 kilograms worth more than £3,500, which was more than enough to set them up for life.

Word of their success spread quickly. A month later there were 10,000 miners working in that area around Golden Point, who I imagine started digging a lot deeper than they normally would.

And the wider Ballarat area (just a few hours from where I live here in Australia) became the richest gold field in the world.

Sometimes you need to keep digging…

As I said, I learned about the Cavanagh brothers back in high school. And while I don’t even know their first names, I often think about them, and how they kept going when so many others had given up.

I also think about how their persistence not only led them to their fortune, but also encouraged others to try something new (i.e. dig deeper). People who saw them digging and probably thought they were crazy before were now doing the same.

Which is why persevering is the second most important thing you’ll do as an entrepreneur. Sometimes you need to do a lot of digging before you find success. But when things get tough, and people start abandoning their ‘claim’ and moving on to the next big thing, it can be tempting to do the same.

There have been times when I’ve felt a bit like the Cavanagh brothers. (As a blogger, I mean. I don’t like physical labor, and would never grab a pick and start digging into clay.) I’ve seen plenty of bloggers come and go over the years. Like me, they saw the opportunity to build something significant. But at soon as things got tough, they gave up and abandoned their blogs.

And there have been times when I’ve thought about giving up too.

I’ve seen a lot of bloggers abandon their work after deciding they’d be more successful on other platforms. Back when I started blogging, some of them were already talking about abandoning their blogs and moving to MySpace. And since then I’ve heard about many bloggers who abandoned their blogs to get on to Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook or Google Plus.

The blogosphere is littered with abandoned blogs. And I sometimes wonder what might have happened if they’d kept digging through the clay rather than abandoning their claim. Persistence doesn’t always lead to success, but it’s a big part of successful blogging (and success in pretty much every field).

… and sometimes you need to move on

However, in some situations you may be better off abandoning what you’re doing and moving on rather than flogging the proverbial dead horse.

Yes, the story of the Cavanagh brothers is a great example of how persistence can pay off. But I’m sure there are other stories about miners who spent far too much time digging in the same spot for little if any reward.

That can happen with blogging as well. And in those cases, quitting might actually be the best option.

Which is what I’ll be talking about in next week’s blog post.

You will get more leads, more sales, and more revenue. Adding quality content to your website is the primary key in your SEO efforts.

This maybe is your best and only option if you’re operating with a small marketing budget.

Creating informative and multimedia-rich content will make it easier for search engines to connect you with your prospective customers.

Proper content marketing demonstrates trustworthiness, authoritativeness, and expertise. With all these things in play, you will be able to establish a strong brand.

Not to mention that content marketing plays a vital role in your link-building strategies.

Digital content marketing continues to become more competitive as time progresses.

This is the primary reason you should focus on creating content that does the following: entertain, inform, persuade, and solve problems.

Content marketing offers many wonderful incentives that you cannot afford to ignore at the end of the day.

So, let’s take a close look at a few other reasons why content marketing is vital. undefined

online digital content marketing statistics

Digital content marketing is cost effective

A recent study conducted by DemandMetrics reveals that content marketing costs about 63% less than conventional marketing tactics, and it has the potential to generate about three times as many leads. This can be a big game-changer for your business!

Social Media Examiner reported that more than 80% of online marketers saw an increase in their traffic when they invested a minimum of six hours per week in their social media content.

Your ROI (Return on Investment) increases when an effective digital content marketing strategy is created for your audience. The first step begins with you learning more about your prospective customers. When you have a full understanding of your audience, you will create content that answers their questions.

Optimized content gets Organic Search (SEO)

It’s normal to have a question or a problem. Chances are you will turn to Google for the answer or solution.

Search engines are well-known for going through periodic changes. This helps them deliver more value to their customers.

When your content solves the problems of your targeted audience, the search engines will give your website a higher ranking. In return, you can look forward to getting more traffic. So, make certain your content is informative, relative, and up-to-date.

Your website will rank higher in the search engines

When you secure a high ranking in the search engines, it’s important for you to avoid spending more money on advertising. This will open the door for you to get more leads.

For instance, you can concentrate on launching email marketing campaigns that will help you build a solid relationship with your leads.

What should you send them? You must create content for the email that will entice the prospect to move to the next stage of your marketing funnel. If you’re clever, you will repurpose the content you created for your blog. You should also consider using whitepapers. They will help your subscribers comprehend your content.

If you want to take things to the next level, you can use certain pieces of your content for your social media platforms. Use ads that will target people that will be interested in your services or products.

Distribute your digital content and build brand awareness

Content helps your audience understand your industry and business. Your content should answer your prospect’s questions. For example, a colon cleansing clinic may have a page on their website called “What is colon cleansing?” This helps site visitors learn more about the colon cleansing process.

Content marketing is extremely effective at increasing brand awareness, getting more traffic, and securing more links for your website.

Your content will make it easier for you to display your knowledge and skills. Your prospects will be more inclined to do business with you.

Generate quality leads and attract loyal customers

Digital content marketing makes it easier for your targeted audience to find your website in search engines. In many cases, they will not be ready to buy. However, this does not mean that your competition is on their radar.

You cannot make sales without leads. You can convert your prospects into buyers by using premium content. You can offer short reports or eBooks.

Your prospective buyer goes through these three stages: Awareness, consideration, and decision. Being familiar with these stages can help you direct your prospects into opening their wallet.

It’s your responsibility to establish yourself as an authority in your niche or business vertical. Answering questions and educating your audience with your content is the key to getting massive sales.

Get repeated visitors

When you provide people with quality content, they will view you as a trusted resource. They will visit your website over and over again.

Statistics show that content marketing generates tons of business leads. It’s reasonable to say that 50% of consumers read blogs about products that get their attention. Once they’ve read the information, close to 30% will use the blog post to make certain they made the right decision.

Content marketing is easy to master and cost-effective.

Content answers questions

Please keep in mind that your prospects will have questions about your services or products. Before they make a purchase, they expect you to answer their questions. Your sales team can do a magnificent job in this department, but you should take an extra step. Sharing relevant blog posts and infographics will pay big dividends.

As I stated earlier, links play a crucial role in the backlinking process. Getting more links will help your website get a higher ranking in the search engines.

Distributing your content on your social media pages is an easy way to reach your audience. You should set-up an account on the following platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.

You can share written content, videos, and photos. Your audience will love this!

Marketing on social media platforms is a win-win situation for everyone. You can market your products or services for free, and your audience will get a golden opportunity to learn more about your offers without any risk.

Content produces action

Your content must provide a call to action. The call to action invites the user to take action.

Here are a few examples of a call to action: Leave a review, add to cart, download a PDF, request a quote, and contact us. Placing calls to action throughout your site can increase your conversion rate.

Content marketing can also be the driving force behind your email marketing campaigns. Using your content as bait will entice your prospects to join your email list.

Digital content marketing is universal

Contrary to popular belief, content marketing works extremely well in B2B and B2C verticals.

Experienced marketers know that promoting low-value products with Pay-Per-Click marketing is a waste of time. Health products are not suitable candidates for display ads or remarketing. Consumers are not interested in having their personal information circulating throughout the internet.

Content will always reign supreme in different industries or sectors. It’s extremely effective at delivering sharp marketing messages.

Final word

There’s a popular saying in digital marketing, “Content is king.” Content marketing can drive more visitors to your website, improve your search engine ranking, and improve brand awareness.

There are dozens of online marketing techniques today. However, only a few can compare to content marketing.

Content marketing will continue to gain more popularity as time progresses. If you don’t take advantage of it, you may get left behind.

How to Set SMART Goals for Your Blog in 2021

How to set SMART goals for your blog in 2021

How to set SMART goals for your blog in 2021This post is based on episode 218 of the ProBlogger podcast.

It’s been a very long year, and like most people you probably can’t wait for it to be over. And with the new year just around the corner, now is a good time to set yourself some blogging goals for 2021.

Setting goals is important if you want to grow your blog. It will help you focus your time and energy on what’s most important. And knowing what you’ll be achieving will give you some added incentive to keep going.

Getting SMART about setting goals

There’s a lot of information out there about goals and how to set them. One of the most popular methods is to base them on the SMART acronym, which stands for smart, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. And that’s the one I’ll be referring to in this post.

But I’ll be attaching a few more words to some of those letters to make it more specific to blogging.

S is for…

To start, your goals should be as specific as possible. Don’t set vague goals like, “I want more traffic for my blog,” or, “I want more money from my blog,” or, “I want to post more often.” How much more traffic do you want? How much more money do you want? How often do you want to post?

Instead, work out exactly what you want to achieve:

  • “I want to double the amount of traffic I had this year.”
  • “I want to make $50,000.”
  • “I want to publish a new post every week.”

Not only are these goals far more specific, they also satisfy another criterion that starts with ‘s’ – significant.

As I said earlier, setting goals is important if you want to grow your blog. But don’t start making them just for the sake of it. You should be setting significant goals that will get you closer to your long-term goals.

Want to make a million dollars from blogging? You probably won’t get there in a year, but you can certainly set yourself a goal (“I want to make $50,000.”) that gets you closer to that lucrative figure.

Want to get a book deal? You may not get one this year, but you can certainly set yourself a goal (“I want to publish a new post every week.”) that will get you closer.

You should also come up with goals that are significant to you. Maybe you want to make $50,000 so you can buy a new car or your first home. Now that goal is a lot more significant, and you’re going to be more motivated to achieve it.

M is for…

Next, your goals need to be measurable. As Peter Drucker once said, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.”

The specific goals I mentioned in the previous section are also measurable because it’s easy to work out whether or not you achieved them. At the end of the year you’ll know whether you doubled your traffic, made $50,000 or posted something new every week.

Not only that, you can work out how well you’re tracking and, if necessary, make some adjustments. Let’s say your goal is to earn $50,000 in a year. That works out to be $4,166 a month, or $137 a day. And so at any time during the year you can compare how much you’ve made with how much you should have made to see how well you’re meeting your target.

And when you’re planning your goals, keep another M word in mind – meaningful. You’re far more likely to achieve your goal if it means something to you. I once talked to a blogger whose goal was to raise $10,000 for school of orphans in Africa. It had nothing to do with growing her blog, but she’d visited the orphanage a few years before so it was a meaningful goal for her.

A is for…

Your goals should stretch you, and make you work hard. But they should also be achievable based on the situation you’re in.

If you can only blog in the evenings because of work and family commitments, you probably shouldn’t set a goal to publish a new blog post every day. Even publishing once a week might be pushing things too far. You may be better off setting a goal to publish a post once a fortnight to start with, and then see how well you’re tracking after a couple of months.

Setting goals you can’t actually reach can actually hurt your blog. You may be far less motivated to keep going, and even if you do keep going the quality of your content may drop, which can damage your brand.

By all means stretch yourself, but don’t bite off more than you can chew. When you’re creating your goals, take the time and resources you have into account. What you’d like to be a one-year goal may need to become one of your long-term goals instead – at least to begin with.

And if you’re part of a team, then your goals should also be agreed-upon. That means not only letting everyone know about the goals you’d like to achieve, but also getting them to take those goals on board so you can all work together to achieve them.

R is for…

Chances are you’ll be making a number of goals for the year. But once you’ve created them all, check to make sure they’re all still relevant. You may find that some of them clash with others, or have already been covered in other goals. And some may just be a little bit before their time.

Back in 2015, one of my goals was to run an event in the US. We have a lot of readers in the US, and so I thought it would be a worthwhile goal. But when I looked at all the goals I wanted to achieve that year, I could see that the work involved in running an event in the US would affect some of my other goals. And so I decided to put that particular goal on hold.

Two years later I took another look at my list of goals, and I could see how we could run that US event. In the intervening years I’d met some people who could help us make it a reality. So I freed up some time in my own schedule to work on it, and the result was our Success Incubator event.

Just because a goal isn’t relevant at the moment doesn’t mean you should discard it completely. You may simply need more resources, contacts or prep work to make it a success.

T is for…

Finally, your goals should be time-bound. In other words, they need deadlines.

This not only makes your goals specific and measurable, it also helps you work out how you’re going to reach your goal.

For example, if your goal is to publish a blog post every Friday then you can work backwards to work out when you need to finish your research, when you need to finish the first draft, and so on.

One tip with deadlines: Try to space them out, rather than putting them all at the end of the year. That way you won’t be facing a pile of deadlines at a time when you should be winding down rather than speeding up.

Spacing them out also means you’ll be achieving goals regularly, which can do wonders for your motivation.

Over to you
